Pre IT Course for Indigenous Australians

What is Information Technology?

Information Technology is not just sitting at a computer and programming. It affects everything that touches our lives - like communication, education, entertainment, health, transport, or any type of industry. IT is all about the way information is put together and delivered over computer networks in an information based society. A career in IT involves communication, problem solving and team-work.

For more information about careers in IT and computing go to the UTS:IT Indigenous Participation in IT Project pages.

Who should apply?

Indigenous Australians who are considering a career in Information Technology and would like to gain a head start in their studies. Also Indigenous Australians who have not yet made up their minds and would like an opportunity to try some Information Technology and see if this is what they are really interested in. There is no assumed knowledge - all that is needed is an interest in IT and a willingness to learn.

Course Objectives

The course is designed to give you a taste of IT. You will gain some knowledge of IT and improve your basic computer skills.
