I was working as a Senior Telecoms Engineer for Rabobank, who are an agricultural bank for farmers with 74 branches in rural areas of Australia and New Zealand. I'm employed as a Senior Telecoms Engineer and look after the network (WAN, LAN, data centres) and phone systems around Australia and New Zealand.
I am currently working on the company's relocation of head office and the fit out of its brand new building. I am responsible for all aspects of the network design and specifications, which include all network access, a computer room, Wireless LAN and IP Telephony.
Obtaining my Master of Science in Internetworking resulted in my promotion to a senior role. The course helped me to get a very in-depth understanding of networking, in a practical way. I use the skills that I learnt in the course every day. While the workload was high, the content was very practical so no one had any objections to studying it. I wasn't learning complex, outdated principles that I felt I would never use in my day-to-day work. Several of my friends and colleagues also enrolled in the course upon on my recommendation.
I've moved to London now, where I plan to continue working in a networking role. I hope to stay there for a few years and gain more experience before returning to Australia.
