Teaching and Learning

The Department of Computer Systems boasts a breadth and depth of talented staff working at the delivery of leading edge educational programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The department has an extensive range of subjects in networking in both the undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Cisco Academy materials are utilised in the teaching of some of these subjects.

Undergraduate students undertaking the Internetworking sub-major cover the material to provide them with their Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) preparation. Alternatively undergraduate students may choose to undertake a sub-major in either Mobile Computing or Internet Business Technology.

Postgraduate students in the Master of Science in Internetworking cover the CCNA material and also have the option (subject to availability) to gain their Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) preparation. These students may choose alternative subjects to the CCNP based subjects, such as mobile communications or network security.

Research

The department is an active in research within the Advanced Research in Networking Group, e-Markets Group and the Interaction Design and Work Practice Lab.

Other research groups within the department are: Computer Vision Group; Computer Vision and Image Processing Lab; e-Health Group; Enterprise Internet and Mobile Technologies Group; Extended Enterprise and Business Intelligence Lab (eXel); and the Information Visualisation Group.
